Third Quarter Church Conference

The church conference convened at 7:05 p.m. with prayer, scripture reading (Psalm 121), and the song “Won’t It Be Grand.” Rev. Dr. Vickers called the meeting to order at 7:08 p.m.
The minutes from the previous conference were read by Emma Newsome and approved. There was no old or unfinished business. Ten ministry reports were submitted.
Deacon Roy Farrar presented the Healing and Convalescing report. The Diakonos Ministry recommended Sister Sondra Barron-Smith for membership in the Mother’s Ministry; the recommendation was approved.
Rev. Dr. Micheal Benton presented the Governance Board report, noting that the Board is undergoing restructuring, with current members remaining until new members are selected or assigned tasks are completed.
Deaconess Bonni Ware presented the third-quarter 2025 financial report. Total revenue was $636,212, with expenditures of $506,551. The 2025 budget is $2,096,000, with 70% expended to date. The financial report was approved.
Rev. Dr. Vickers and Rev. Joe Hubbard shared the Chief Financial Officer’s report, including the successful retirement of the church mortgage.
In the Moderator’s Report, Rev. Dr. Vickers acknowledged several ministries for their third-quarter achievements, including NXTGEN, Seasoned Saints, Church Anniversary, Homecoming, and the FairCare Team. The FairCare Team reported 102 ministry engagements, including 19 baptisms, 50 new members, and 22 prayer referrals and bereavements.
Campus updates included near completion of renovations to the Zack Brown Administrative Building, upcoming parking deck maintenance, ongoing technology improvements, transportation discussions regarding the aging church bus, and follow-up on restroom accessibility.
Upcoming church activities and announcements are available on the church website. Announcements are due by noon on Wednesdays.
